I came across an interesting article today on science.com that indicates more evidence that electronic cigarettes may be helping regular cigarette smokers to kick their habit.
Some of the facts that I thought to be most profound that nearly half (49%) of daily cigarette smokers have used electronic cigarettes at some point. It also goes on to say that recent quitters, defined as having quit within the last year, are four times as like to be daily users of e-cigs.
As for the worries that electronic cigarettes are turning once-nicotine free individuals — teens and non-smokers — into habitual nicotine takers, the data indicates that this is not quite the case. Hopefully that quiets the naysayers of the vaping industry, as its clear that are dominantly used by smokers / former smokers as a cessation device.
I talk here a lot about all the different kinds of vape products available on the market. One thing I’d like to see the author discuss more, but I suppose it gets away from the central point of the article, is just what kinds of devices are being used by the recent quitters to help them make that lifestyle change.
