Hello, all – I hope you had a wonderful holiday season filled with family and good times.
It’s that time of year again… early January… time for New Year’s Resolutions! As like most years, I suspect that quitting smoking is one of the most popular resolutions among the masses, up there with eating better, exercising more, losing weight and the like.
I read an interesting article today on Buzzfeed that addresses just this topic. Apparently it seems that rather than quitting smoking completely, many are instead choosing to go with e-cigarettes as opposed to getting rid of nicotine altogether.
The study that is addressed in the article is UK-based and it says that one million fewer quit smoking aids, such as patches, were sold in 2015 than in the previous year. The difference was made up by the rise in sales of electronic cigarettes, with one particular brand experiencing a 347% rise in sales during that time.
I for one applaud anyone who gives up their pack of traditional cigarettes and makes the change to electronic cigarettes. I’m a walking success story on how they have helped me put down my old pack of cigs for good and can’t say enough great things about them – this site is evidence enough of that.
However I do have a bit of a jaded view of New Year’s resolutions in general. My feelings are that if you need a special day to make a change, you are most likely not going to stick with it. I imagine that the majority of resolutions end up being broken. If you truly want to quit, it has to come from deep within you and takes commitment — this goes for all resolutions, not just quitting smoking. Though I do applaud anyone who is making this decision and support it fully and hope that it is given the proper dedication it requires.
If this is a resolution of yours, there’s a great sale going on at V2 Cigs with their New Year’s Kits while supplies last. A great deal for a great purpose!
